About the Speakers:
Shannel Julius is a New York native living in Madrid, Spain. She holds an undergraduate degree in Hispanic Studies from the University of Scranton and a Master's in Literary Translation & Applied English Linguistics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Her specialty is the translation of African American Vernacular English and the transmission of African American cultural elements in linguistic translation.
Marcus Cormier holds a Master Degree in Applied Linguistics and is completing his second Master Degree in Higher Education, both from Texas A&M University. His university capstone projects have included work on “Linguistic Minorities and Higher Education: A Study in Integrations” and “New Speakers of Minority Languages: L1 Perceptions on Production and Authenticity”. Marcus is passionate about the role of linguistic interpretation and social justice.
